Homemade Anti-aging CACAO Mask

Hey lovelies~ have you ever heard about the benefit offered by cacao? Cacao is one of the best natural ingredients known to be beneficial for health and beauty. It has also been used since the age of Cleopatra. And today, I'm going to share my version of DIY homemade cacao mask. ^-^

Cocoa or Cacao?
First off, I want to tell you the difference between Cocoa and Cacao. "Cacao" is the bean that comes from the cacao tree, which is known by the scientific name of Theobroma cacao (food of the Gods!). The beans from cacao tree are often harvested, fermented, and dried, and ground down into powder, after which point the products are often referred to as "cocoa." Anyhow, In the United States, cacao is often referred to simply as cocoa.

Cacao/Cocoa Health Benefit for Skins:
Cacao has a lot of benefit for our skins, no matter if we drink it, or use it as a facial mask. So basically, cacao will rejuvenate and revitalize our skin from inside and outside!

- The best Antioxidants.
Cacao has 955 ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) units per gram, which makes cacao the highest known source of antioxidants in the world.

- Anti-Aging
Cacao contains a lot of flavonoids that acts as antioxidants to fight free-radicals. It reduce the appearance of fine wrinkle and also stabilizing elastin and collagen in your skin, make it look young and healthy.

-Contains 350 Beneficial Chemicals.
There are over 350 known chemicals found in chocolate, including stimulants like caffeine, theobromine, phenylethylamine and anandamide. Thebromin, in advance, known to act as a vasodilator increasing the flow of blood to the surface of the skin and prevent the skin from drying out.

-High Mineral Content.
Chocolate contains copper, iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc for the promotion of cell growth, the repair of tissue and the absorption of nutrients. Cocoa is also a rich source of sulfur, also known as the beauty mineral, necessary for healthy skin.

-High Vitamin Content.
Contains Vitamins A, B12, B-complex, D and E.

All in all, it will add glow to your skin, makes your skin soft, younger, and prevents aging.

How to Make DIY Homemade CACAO Mask:
So yeah, after reading about the benefit of cacao for skins, now it's time to slather your face with pure organic chocolate paste in the name of beauty! Basically you can choose almost any ingredients to accompany your beloved organic chocolate paste. But as for me, I love to mix it with honey (acts as natural anti-bacteria agents, keeps skin moist and supple), yoghurt or yalkut, and of course, water! You can choose another ingredients like, avocado (avocado adds extra moisture), or oatmeal (for exfoliating purpose).

After done many research about Cacao mask, it often be used to fight acne too (when used topically), as we all know there's a product named Zamian Gold Cacao Mask from Korea. This mask is suitable for any skin type. But as I have mentioned earlier, it's better to choose additional ingredients that match your skin type.

Recipe:
1/4 or 1/3 cup of organic cacao powder.
1 tbs of natural honey.
5tbs of yakult or more, basically you would want a paste like substance. You can also add water, be sure not to make it too liquidy as it will not sit on your face properly.

How to apply:
Wash your face with a lukewarm water and apply the paste on your skin. You can use a wide brush for perfect application or just spread the paste with your finger. Let it sit on your face until it completey dry and wash it off with warm water. You may use toner afterwards and apply your favorite moisturize.

Health skin is sweet~!

Guide to choose organic cacao/cocoa powder:
You can use any brand of cacao powder, check out the ingredients first and make sure it contains no additional preservatives, color, fragrance, or any other chemical ingredients. The natural cacao powder is the one that is lighter in color, not dark chocolate or black chocolate. Black/dark chocolate is actually a chocolate powder that has been dutched (Dutch-process cocoa powder is made from cocoa (cacao) beans that have been washed with a potassium solution, to neutralize their acidity.)

Okay, I hope you find this post useful ^-^ See you girls on my next post~
